Historia de la música

MIDDLE AGES

1. Religious music
Here we have some examples that will help us to better understand the characteristics of medieval music

Pérotin was an European composer, believed to be French, who lived around the end of the 12th and beginning of the 13th century. He was the most famous member of the Notre Dame school of polyphony and of the Ars Antiqua style. He was one of very few composers of his day whose name has been preserved, with Leonin.
This piece, is a Organum Quadruplum. He took a melody of Gregorian Chant and wrote three new melodies with a very characteristic rythm

Organa
Here we have some curious examples of organa based on a very famous melody that you will recognize

2. Profane music

Carmina Burana. Original manuscript
